Vane Motor

Smooth Rotary Power with Compact Design for Medium-Pressure Hydraulic Drives.

What is a Vane Motor?

A vane motor is a type of hydraulic motor that uses sliding vanes inside a slotted rotor to convert hydraulic pressure into rotary motion. As pressurized fluid enters the motor, it pushes against the vanes, which are sealed against a cam ring—causing the rotor and shaft to spin. Vane motors are known for smooth operation, good starting torque, and relatively low noise compared to gear motors. Yagang vane motors are available in fixed displacement designs, with displacements typically ranging from 2 cc/rev to 100+ cc/rev. They handle pressures up to 2,500–3,000 PSI continuously, making them suitable for medium-pressure applications such as machine tool drives, conveyor systems, fan drives, agricultural equipment, and industrial machinery. While not as high-pressure as piston motors, vane motors offer excellent efficiency, long life, and lower cost for applications that don’t need extreme pressure ratings.

Why Choose Yagang Vane Motor

Smooth and Quiet Operation

Some hydraulic motors chatter or pulsate, especially at low speeds. Yagang vane motors use multiple vanes (typically 10–15) that provide nearly continuous torque output with minimal ripple. The result is smoother rotation, less vibration transmitted to driven equipment, and quieter operation—important for machine tools, packaging lines, or any application where noise matters. Balanced vane designs also reduce side loading on the rotor shaft.

Good Starting Torque and Speed Range

Vane motors offer better starting torque efficiency than gear motors—typically 75–85% of theoretical torque versus 65–75% for gears. That means they break away from rest more easily under load. Yagang vane motors also run smoothly across a wide speed range, from 50 RPM for positioning applications up to 4,000 RPM for high-speed fans or centrifuges. Speed reversal is straightforward by reversing flow direction.

Durable Construction for Medium-Duty Cycles

Vane motors are often misunderstood as fragile. Properly built, they last a long time. Yagang vane motors feature hardened steel vanes with rounded tips, precision-ground cam rings, and wear-resistant rotor slots. Cartridge-style replaceable vane kits simplify rebuilding. Pressure-balanced design minimizes internal leakage and maintains efficiency over time. For applications with clean oil (ISO 18/15 or better) and moderate pressure, these motors routinely achieve thousands of hours of service.

Product FAQ

Compared to gear motors, vane motors are smoother, quieter, and have better starting torque efficiency—but typically lower maximum pressure (3,000 PSI vs. 3,600+ PSI for gears). Compared to piston motors, vane motors are less expensive and smoother at low speeds, but piston motors handle higher pressures (5,000 PSI) and offer variable displacement options. Choose vane motors for medium-pressure applications where smoothness and quiet operation matter most.

Yagang vane motors cover displacements from 2 cc/rev to 100+ cc/rev. Continuous operating pressure is typically 2,500–3,000 PSI (175–210 bar), with peak pressures up to 3,600 PSI for intermittent duty. Speed ranges: low-speed models handle 50–500 RPM; standard models handle 500–3,000 RPM; high-speed versions reach 4,000+ RPM. Flow requirements range from 2 GPM to 60 GPM depending on displacement and speed.

Business FAQ

Yes. As an experienced OEM vane motor supplier, we produce motors that meet or exceed original equipment specifications. Our engineering team works from OE part numbers, sample motors, or customer drawings to replicate displacement, mounting flange (SAE or ISO), shaft configuration (keyed, splined, tapered), port sizes and orientation, and optional features (speed sensors, parking brakes, integral valves). We also offer reverse engineering for discontinued or legacy models.

Our MOQ for standard vane motor models is typically 10–50 pieces depending on displacement and configuration. For custom or OEM orders, we offer flexible MOQ arrangements—including single-unit prototyping or small-batch validation (5–10 pieces) before full wholesale procurement. Lead time for stocked models is 3–7 days after order confirmation. Custom orders typically require 20–30 days based on complexity, component availability, and quantity.

Absolutely. We provide comprehensive private labeling solutions for B2B clients, including motor housing marking with your brand logo and part numbers, custom paint colors, and branded packaging. For high-volume wholesale partners, we can also offer custom nameplates, serial number tracking, and modified port or mounting configurations exclusive to your distribution channel.
